Moisture in your home or building can cause a number of serious problems and can adversely impact the health of your loved ones. High humidity and liquid moisture leaks should be detected and controlled in every home and building in order to keep your family healthy and to keep your building from getting sick.
Excess moisture comes from many sources: a poorly vented clothes dryer, an improperly vented furnace or water heater, small leaks in your clothes washer supply lines, refrigerator water supply lines, recessed can lights, roof leaks, ice damming, flashings and a host of other sources. Some are obvious.....some require a trained and experienced investigator.

Many of Chicago’s newer masonry buildings are experiencing an alarmingly high number of significant moisture issues. From missing flashing and masonry detailing to improper ratios in the mortar mix, today’s brick and masonry buildings aren’t built like they used to. This in and of itself is not a bad thing, but you should be well prepared by your inspector regarding these vital construction steps that are often times installed so poorly (if at all) that they must be repaired or replaced, sometimes in buildings less than one year old!
